Angelina Dawkins earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and brings six years of clinical experience to her practice in Illinois.
Early in her career, in 2017, she worked as an addictions counselor in residential treatment, supporting people facing substance use challenges. She also provides therapy to Veterans, addressing past traumas, substance use concerns, and disruptive mood conditions.
While serving in an Army Reserves unit, Angelina acted as a Victim Advocate, delivering education about sexual harassment and assault prevention and offering advocacy for soldiers and their families.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and uses a holistic approach to care - collaborating with clients to identify areas to heal and strengthen across mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being for a more balanced life.
Angelina emphasizes active listening and creates a supportive, compassionate space where clients can explore their emotions, thoughts, and feelings. She believes every person deserves happiness, empowerment, and the ability to love themselves as they are.
Her clinical approach is eclectic and individualized, drawing on techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused problem solving to meet each person’s needs.
Angelina enjoys working with people who face stress, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction and substance use concerns, low self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma, and other life challenges.
