Edward Schultze is a licensed counselor practicing in Maryland and Delaware with 30 years of experience. He has extensive experience addressing abuse and trauma as well as a broad range of personal problems and mental health conditions.
He spent many years working in a special education school, focusing primarily on adolescents and their families, and transitioned to private practice close to ten years ago. Since moving into private practice he has worked mainly one-on-one with adults of all ages.
Those he currently works with would likely describe him as easy-going, supportive, informal, practical and nonjudgmental. He has considerable respect for anyone who decides to pause and address issues that affect quality of life; he views that step as requiring courage, openness and hope.
He draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches with a psychodynamic orientation, while also attending to immediate needs. Changing behaviors in the here and now and shifting thinking patterns are often priorities in his work, and he encourages clients to believe in their capacity to change.
During the pandemic he began offering remote therapeutic services and found this mode of work both practical and effective, so he continues to provide remote sessions as part of his practice.
He is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in both Maryland and Delaware. He welcomes questions and encourages prospective clients to inquire about his approach and experience.
