Jeanette “Jan” Kaschmitter has been a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State since 2001 and brings 24 years of clinical experience to her practice.
She spent 13 years working within fully integrated mental health and substance use programs, though she is not credentialed in substance use. Over the course of her career she has worked in community mental health, inpatient psychiatric settings, and a tribal clinic.
Jeanette “Jan” has provided individual, couples, and group counseling primarily for an adult population. Her methods draw from several therapeutic models, with specific techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Eclectic in nature, she adapts approaches to meet the distinct needs of each person she serves.
She has specialized training in grief and loss, trauma and sexual abuse, and co-occurring disorders. Jeanette “Jan” believes that people are capable of healing and finding a healthy balance in their lives, and she regards it as a privilege to accompany others on that journey.
Many people question whether remote therapy can make a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the primary advantages is flexibility - clients can connect in the mode that feels most comfortable, choosing from video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Online services are provided by licensed professionals, and if a client decides a different therapeutic match would work better they can switch therapists at any time.
