Jonathan Kabat works with people who carry deep, persistent questions that often arrive as feelings, images, sensations, dreams, and longings. He recognizes how these questions can weigh on the heart and how familiar patterns and repeated strategies can leave those longings unmet. With a systems-oriented perspective he explores the many contexts of a person’s life in detail so they can see how experience has shaped them and how they, in turn, shape their world. He collaborates with clients to develop practical changes and supports ongoing practice as new ways of relating take hold.
He brings ten years of clinical experience to his practice in California and is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state - license CA LMFT 129217. His work addresses a wide range of concerns including trauma and abuse, stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief, intimacy-related issues, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem, career struggles, depression, coping with life transitions, and compassion fatigue.
Jonathan integrates multiple therapeutic approaches to support wholeness and change. His training includes transpersonal and systems perspectives alongside somatic, emotional, and cognitive methods that attend to how people sense, feel, and think about their experience. He also draws on applied ecopsychology, eco-therapy, and climate psychology, and offers support to individuals who are experiencing strong emotional responses to ecological and societal change. He is particularly interested in working with people experiencing eco-rage, eco-despair, and eco-anxiety that arise from deep care for the Earth, helping them cultivate compassion, resilience, and purposeful action. Jonathan aims to guide each person toward greater clarity and purpose in the direction their heart calls them.
