About

Josh Arminio has worked in the mental health sector for over six years. He began his career as a sexual assault victim advocate before completing a master’s degree in counselling at Monash University in 2020, and during his time at Monash he completed internships at a high school and an employee assistance program (EAP) agency.

After finishing his master’s and a graduate certificate in health and human services from the University of Melbourne, he has worked across diverse settings including veteran services as a group therapy facilitator, community telehealth, academic advising, counselling within a carceral setting, and providing clinical supervision to counselling graduate students.

Josh has delivered mental health counselling to many different populations, including military veterans, sex workers, LGBTQIA+ individuals, educators, international students and immigrants, older adults, people who are unhoused, Indigenous Australians, and small business owners.

He also holds a clinical certificate in group therapy and multicultural counselling from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA.

His clinical approach is grounded in Rogerian person-centred principles, and he has received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). He also recognises the role of existential, ontological and spiritually informed perspectives as part of a holistic view of wellbeing.

Josh views social justice advocacy and cultural competency as central to counselling and incorporates these values into his practice. He is based in Australia.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy can make a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or adapting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable to traditional in-person sessions for helping people manage these issues.

A key benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that fits their life, whether by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule.

Each therapist is a licensed professional, and if someone feels a different fit is needed they can switch therapists at any time. The combination of convenience and professional training makes online therapy a viable option for many people seeking support.
